The samples below belong to a much larger, still growing library of music. Some are full songs with lyrics and others instrumentals meant as either soundtracks, accompanying pieces, or demo pieces. All of these pieces with the exception of Great Ole Tree were recorded in a home studio without the benefit of a professional producer, engineer, or equipment. But as they say, any audiophile worth their salt can appreciate the melody on its own merit. All songs copyrighted. So here they are.
This is a 'hard ballad' with Spanish influences. This first-person narrative is difficult to describe in a short paragraph, but has been described as rather touching by most who took the time to read the lyrics. This song was the rock/alternative winner of the Songdoor International Songwriting Competition in 2012.
Dark piece about alienation and its link to talent in many people.
A catchy dark piano-centered piece made for female voice and rapper in the second part. Needs vocals.
A short song about escape, travel, and fantasies of freedom. No keyboards are used in the ending, only GT-3 guitar effects!
This song was written and recorded by me in 2014. I played the instruments and programmed the drums. The sound quality is not optimal as this was recorded at home without a professional engineer or producer.
This is a song recorded by a Vitaly Skovorodnikov, a Russian artist, a while back. The original can be found here. I contacted him on Facebook and he gave me the ok to mess with it and gave me the isolated vocal tracks. I just sped it up, added drums, slap bass, strings, distorted guitars and keys. I also used a sample of the original intro guitar, and voilà! The resulting mix is somewhere between Russian song, funk, neo-classical, and light Djent (!). Not a huge success, but a fun little experiment overall.
This is an instrumental soundtrack. It was entirely programmed, that is, none of the instruments are live. It was put together quickly to demo how fast I could produce a valid melody. and program realistic drum patterns.
Patchwork of spacy soundscapes recorded at on a minimal Pro-Tools setup with factory plug-ins. The drums are a VST plugin (Toontrack).
A Rock en Espanol song made for a Spanish Rock singer Lu'e Diaz. This is only the instrumental I wrote and recorded based on the chord progressions I was given.
Recorded in 2004 in a home studio. This was performed live with MAX, a band I was a member of with close friends, and for which I wrote most of the music. The rap lyrics are by Danny, the chorus and end part by me. MC - Daniel "Danny 1" Friedman Bass - Shawn Lyon Drums - Jeff Stephens Guitar/vocals - Nicolas Roy
Another thrash song with a slightly punk edge. This one is also part of the Pull Out Method sub-project.
This is a song that crosses two genres: speed/thrash metal and hardcore punk like Minor Threat. The subject matter is a sarcastic take that juxtaposes women working in sweat shops with Western women shopping for the goods the former produce.
